Scirocco height ?

Post by Shaun »

Ok i managed to convince the wife to let us get a Scirocco R well until she actually saw one in the flesh, now she reckons there too low !!, so question is day to day whats it like to live with, getting in and out etc, and is it much lower than what your used to ?

there is a noticable difference when i jump in and out of ours to swap them on the drive etc, you roof line is lower, rear visablily isn't great (and why mrs wigit doesn't like driving it apart fromit being to slow) but wing mirrors are more than up to the job

3 door drawbacks are the doors are wide and the boot aperture is a bit narrow height wise, they look lower than they are due to the way the roof and sides taper hence the fat ar#se jibe

at first i thought it was bit low...but it was the fat sills that really surprised me after being owning a GTI for 4 years.

doors are defo bigger and heavier, you do have to extend your leg wee bit further to find the ground and get out.

having said that, i love it. The noise is soo different, there's no need for a TBE. DP maybe to get some extra ponies.

Could defo with doing lowering tho.

I went from K03 to K04 on the R tho so appreciate the difference in power and characteristic of this engine.

the height is right for what it is, compared to say, a vauxhall VX220( which is more like a bathtub)

the doors are def. annoying to get out of. the first 'notch' is too narrow. the second 'notch' is too wide, end up banging into someone elses door.

i tend to hold it and let it rest on the car next to me. rub yes, but not causing any damages to the other car or mine.

i also park with the driver side next to the grass or the middle space of the 3 empty spaces.

street parking? when nothing is coming, just get in/out quickly!
