Telephone Preperation

I have just joined this site! I'm looking to get my hands on a new Scirocco R!

These are the options I think I am going for:

DSG, RISING BLUE, LEATHER SEATS, CRUISE CONTROL, FOLDABLE DOOR MIRRORS, PARKING SENSORS REAR, DVD NAVIGATION WITH DYNAUDIO, TELEPHONE PREPERATION, FIXED PRICE SERVICE PLAN.

I want to know if anyone has got the 'TELEPHONE PREP' and if they think it was worth it?!

I got a strong impression from the salesman at the dealership that it's a pile of pants?!

Well the current Telephone Prep was sub-standard - as it only worked with R-Sap phones, most Blackberry's and iPhones had difficulty.

HOWEVER, week 22 onwards I *believe* they will using a new Phone Prep system which means more support for other phones, but I am not sure if that has been confirmed for the UK market.

What I am planning on doing with mine once I get it, is getting a Fiscon unit fitted. Does the same job and it works with my iPhone and work phone

The last conversion I had with my dealer is they honestly do not know, as far as they have been told there are no changes to the bluetooth option for UK bound scirocco's. The order code has apparently remained the same, also having spoken to customer service myself about this and HFP compatible bluetooth poping up on week 22 onwards golfs, tigans and tourans, customer service advised scirocco factory telephone prep only supports RSAP handsets.

It will IMHO really depend on if the RSAP only module has been replaced by the new RSAP+HFP module as a running production change obsoleting the current module thus keeping the same option code or if the newer module is a different option/order code that happens to have been made a spec option elsewhere in europe.

You pays your money and makes your choice I suppose.
As my work and personal phones both support RSAP I'm sticking with factory prep, however if for any reason I later need a HFP compatible kit then changing to factory basic system (not available in uk) is a five minute job once the car is pre-wired. VW factory bluetooth basic modules are readily available on ebay or from the dealers. Just ask for the part no from a MY2011 golf match.
