Deposit Refund & Drive The Deal
Hi, I was just wondering if it's possible to get a refund for a deposit which was made for a new Scirocco? I've checked the paperwork and it doesn't say it's non-refundable?
I was thinking about cancelling my order with my local dealer and ordering one through "Drive The Deal" which is £1800 cheaper. Has anyone had any experience with "Drive The Deal"?
The main reason I went to my local dealer was because I had a car to part exchange. Since the cars that "Drive The Deal" offer are from UK VW dealers will I be able to part exchange my car at that dealer just the same as I would be able to do so at my local dealer.
Also, will I be able to take out VW Solutions for the car from "Drive The Deal".
Thanks.

Re: Deposit Refund & Drive The Deal
yes you should be able to get your deposit refunded.
I used Broadspeed who work in a similar way to Drive the Deal, the customer service will be dependant on the dealer you are referred to as Drive the Deal only pass your details on & then you deal direct. & yes they can part exchange your car (assuming they do work as per broadspeed) however you may have to visit them to get the car appraised & the dealer could be quite a distance away.
Please bear in mind that if you cancel with your dealer you will go to the back of the queue, if you aren't very far into the wait then you may not mind.

The dealer at which you currently have the deposit should match the price. Have you asked?

Re: Deposit Refund & Drive The Deal
Thats what I did. Got a quote from Drive The Deal and marched into my local VW dealer armed with it.
I got the same model for the same price but with some options added as well
The VW dealer was a much better bet in the end and were very willing to do a deal. Once it was all sorted I worked the discount to be 10%.
I didn't have a part ex tho'.

Thanks, I think I'll try that with the local dealer to see if they can match the "Drive The Deal" offer. If they can't, there's another dealer nearby that might. Fingers crossed.
Re: Deposit Refund & Drive The Deal
sadly if you already have a contract with them to buy at one price you may struggle to get them to reduce it now but good luck

If they want the business, they'll match the price.

Why would they refund a deposit a non refundable deposit only to let you then re order the same car at a lower price? Doesn't make very sound business sense to me?
Good luck getting your deposit back, depending how far into the ordering process you will depend if they can respec and resell it. You may be able to.

Re: Deposit Refund & Drive The Deal
Thanks for the replies. Although my local dealer wouldn't match the "Drive The Deal" price, I ended up changing the spec from a 1.4 TSI 122PS to a 1.4 TSI 160PS and I got a £945.00 discount and free 3 years servicing (worth £250)
I ended up saving £1195 on the list price.
It was definetly worth going back to the dealer......I ended up with a better deal and a better car to look forward to

Re: Deposit Refund & Drive The Deal
Looking at the prices and target prices given i Auto Express mag that's not too surprising.
They quote the list price for a 1.4 160 as being £20660 with a target price of £18654.
Whereas the list price and target price for the 1.4 122 is £18860 - £200 less than the 160

Re: Deposit Refund & Drive The Deal
i found vw main dealer will tell u they will match internet prices from orangewheels ( which i think inchcape have something to do with ) but they are far more expensive than other online dealers eg ukcarbroker most will get u a uk sourced car exacly the same as from any vw main dealer
if u are gonna buy from main dealer do your homework and be in a position to do the deal that day buy towards end of the month take no notice of the price he is quoting tell him you will shake his hand on the deal YOU want today
remember buying from a main dealer salesman is like playing poker with someone who knows all the cards
tell him to get u into the car for the price YOU want to pay if not walk!
if he can he will , after many bogus trips upstairs to see the buisness manager
