new hairderssers car?

Post by monkeyman »

Is it me or is the Mk 3 Scirocco becoming the latest hair dressers car?? Im a bus driver in the South London area and nealy very Scirocco I see is being driven by a lady. It might just be the area or the fact I see the same cars day in day out, Ill never know. I think its too much of an aggressive looking car to be given that branding. :)

Must be the area, I've yet to see a single female roc driver (not to say they are all gonna be hairdressers)(edit: I mean single as in 1 of em not as in available). I was hoping to be the first person in my area to get one then out of nowhere two white ones appeared and a black one a few roads up. Dunno if its anyone from here..

no way as hairdresser as the peugeot 307CC or minis.

however, if VW ever gets tempted to make a Cabrio-Roc, then i fear it may become one...

Didn't think so but as I also have an MX5 then it may be a possibility :D

Not really bothered as they're both great cars in their own right.

Nah, most of the one's I see are driven by blokes. IMHO I think it was targetted more towards men but it's great to see it being driven by both genders.

I've only seen a couple driven by females the same age as me (the decade that comes after your thirties that blokes with brains play safe by not mentioning) and everyone else has been male. That opal silver I saw a while back was driven by a man of similar years, and both were just so beige. That colour should never be on a Roc; it's such a Passat colour. The second reason I didn't go for the viper paint was that I thought it could be a bit hairdresserish, and that's a shame, because the car is truly spectacular in viper.

I've had the car nearly six weeks now, and still find it amusing that wherever I go to work I find a small crowd of the site's male staff peering in at the car at some point in the day. On the plus side, I've never had so many attentive males bringing me cups of tea whilst I audit their restaurant/hotel, and I love their faces when I discuss torque, mpg, how impressive I find the smooth power of the common rail over the grunt of my old Mk 5 PD Golf (thank you forum; I sound like I know what I'm talking about) and how the fast cornering confuses my dash mounted iPhone to think it's been turned on its side. The only downside? There isn't one. I've had a work email this morning from a guy I've not seen in a while that has a PS of 'When are you coming to audit us? I want to see your car. Will you take me for a drive in it.' The fact he's cute and very muscly just makes me feel like I've turned into one of Harry Enfield's Dirty Old Ladies. Young Man.

I refer to my Roc as a chicks car.

But if you use the "I see more woman driving xxx" then my ML is also a chicks car (actually it is as it is my wifes car) but so are all the Q7's, range rovers, RR sports as they all seem to be drivne by woman in my area...

Monkey, you're insinuating that men can't be hairdressers.

I always taken the term "hairdresser's car" to suggest that its driven by a heavily made-up bimbo type, not just by any woman.
Now Deb doesn't sound like a hairdresser type to me

Na, I have only ever seen two female drivers. I am not fussed either way, but reckon the Rocco looks a bit too mean to be labelled a hairdressers car.
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!

I don't think it's a hairdressers car, it's not quite flash enough I don't think.

I think it's a bit of a soft sports car for the (dare I say it) middle aged man. Hence the reason I've decided to toughen mine up a bit and make it fit my image a little better.

Looks like the chicks car label depends on your location...

As for it being a middle aged persons car then I guess it fits in my case as I am in my, very, late 30's :-)
