Saw a new Polo in white yesterday - looked pretty good!
Rising Blue,DSG,Vienna Leather,Winter Pack,Pano roof,Folding mirrors,Dynaudio/DAB,Park Sensors,Cruise, Flat tyre indicator,Prem Mats+Sills,Metal Pedals,Gt Badge,Fiscon,Covered cup holder/rear cup holders.Now gone Piano Black with new Climate Control
As there's only 2 non-metallic choices for the Roc, and the red isn't a bright red like you see on the Golf (Tornado red), white is definitely the non-metallic colour of choice. If I was getting a non metallic Roc it would've been white, despite my last car being a Golf in Tornado red (which looked great).
2013 - Tornado Red MK7 Golf GTD on order
2011-2013 - Rising Blue 170GT
2009-2011 - Pewter Roc 140GT
2007-2009 - Tornado Red Golf 170TDI GT
2005-2007 - Black Pearl Golf 140TDI GT
2003-2005 - Black Pearl Polo 1.9TDI
I do love the the white rocs as the contrast with the black and the styling looks superb. For me though, rising blue looks better so thats what i have ordered, besides which i am too lazy to keep a white car clean and looking good.
Could be to do with Walter de Silva's design philosophy. Under de Silva, VW design (in my view) is moving ahead with clean confident shapes which work as a whole. This is far, far better (again in my view) than the current design philosophies of Merc and BMW which seem to suffer from hideous over detailing. Merc particularly with the new C and E classes seem to overdo this at the moment. BMW seem to be cleaning up a bit, but have still lost the plot in terms of the 'whole' - Chris 'deconstructivist' Bangle has seen to that.
So, I applaud de Silva's work, it's one of the things that for me tipped the balance in favour of the 'Roc and, yes, of course, Candy White, precisely because strong shapes seem to benefit from solid colours (although they look good in metallics as well, I was strongly tempted by Viper Green).
surely, spraying metallics are not that much more expensive compared to painting white, so what is the justification of charging over 350GBP? its all done by robots.
besides, i may consider vynl wrapping it in a few years time when white becomes unfashionable. I heard that Matt black/ chrome is the 'in' thing.
