Hi guys looking for some good advice. I will finally get my hands on my new roc next Tuesday and after buying a load of cleaning materials im unsure whether this is the right time to use them. My plan was to clay the car when I get it and then wax etc but would it be better waiting till we're back above 0 degrees? lol I was just thinking because of all the snow and dirt on the road and thought ideally the paintwork would need some protection. If anyone can give me some advice would be much appreciated.

CLeaning/Waxing/Claying in this weather!
Re: CLeaning/Waxing/Claying in this weather!
you could, if you have somewhere partially enclosed & warm then you would probably be ok claying & waxing (using lots of clay lube & warm water for washing) but if not then better to wait, best guide is go pour some water on your current car for example to clear the windscreen if it freezes straight away, its far too cold
i washed mine last friday (before the arctic conditions set in here but was still pretty chilly) while wearing plenty of extra coats & fleeces which was fine but the next day was in pain from stretching over the car to polish it in the cold.

Thanks Trix, I think I'll just wait then, I live in Scotland and temp went down to -18 last night and is about -6 during the day lol
Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi Jambo,
If you can brave the weather and the cold then there's certainly no harm getting out and doing the car, but the advice given by Trix is spot on... if the water freezes, in our opinion, it's too cold to be cleaning cars!!!
Having said that, this time of year it's important to have some protection on the paintwork, just to safe guard as much as possible against the salt and grit (not that our country has any at the moment!) and bad weather.
It all depends on how desperate you are to clean the car - personally, at -18 I think I'd rather be either out snowboarding, or snuggled up with a hot chocolate!
Hope this helps!

Yeah think I'll just leave it and see how the weather goes
I ordered a load of cleaning materials from you (Autoperfection) so will wait and give it a good clean when I get a chance

Don't blame you! We've been waiting for our blanket of snow to disappear! We've got rain today, which is starting to melt all of the snow so it shouldn't be too long before we can get back out there and sort out the car!
All the best
