CHANGING GEARKNOB

Post by SCOTT »

Im looking to change my scirocco gearknob as imo it doesnt suit the car, the dsg one is much nicer.

i think the one in the golf gti/gtd is much better looks the part etc rather than the roc one which seems standard throughout the range.

ive seen the guide on here where someone put a tt one on their roc, but can any of the vw people in here confirm that the gti/gtd will fit the roc please.

also does it come as a complete unit, leather gaitor etc or just the gearknob as ive had a price of £150 which i thought was expensive.

any help would be great, thanks in advance :)

Hi, check this out in the Roccopedia if you've not already seen it... I don't know how much the part costs though, no one on here will tell me (or admit to it!)....

It was me who changed the gearknob from the parts bin special that VW saw fit to lumber the Scirocco with to one from a MK5 R32. I have no doubt the way it is fitted will be the same which means a 5 minute job as it does come as one piece knob, gaiter and trim surround. I can't guarantee that the one from the MK6 Golf will fit but it does look mighty similar..
£150 sounds about the going rate albeit dear for what it is. i managed to get mine for £95 if my memory serves me right and that was supposedly at cost price. Ask them for a discount. You don't get if you don't ask.
IF IT'S NOT BROKEN
I'VE NOT TOUCHED IT YET !!

thanks mate for that i will go in and see them, someone has changed it on the roc without changing the gaitor though so maybe it will fit, hopefully it will.

cant believe that the gearknob in the roc is in basic jetta, passats etc where top of the range golfs have their own design.
