Polish residue!!
Hi, has anyone got any good remedies to remove polish residue from black plastic trim. I know the trick is not to get wax on the plastic in the first place, but thats not that easy! I was disappointed after waxing the car with HD wax to find about a week later white marks appearing on various bits of plastic trim. According to Autoglym HD wax has nothing in it to produce white residue, but I know of many people on other detailing forums have fallen foul of this problem! Silicone spray covers the prob for a day or two, but I want to remove the white marks and not simply cover them!

Duragloss Wax Eraser is designed specifically for this

HD Wax unfortunately does leave these residues, as you've found out for yourself! The only options you have are to either be extra careful and not get any on the trims, or to use a different wax - we've done extensive testing with all sorts of wax... applied it where it shouldn't go, left it on for too long etc. and Lusso Oro Wax never let us down! Doesn't leave any marks or residue or anything

I found that Clearkote Vanilla Moose Glaze removes polish and wax residue really well. Which is odd with it being a polish of sorts. It's a cracking glaze too and well worth the money.

I used aquawax before on black trim bits, but the residue the HD wax has left behind just wont budge with it though. I'll make a decision and order something to remove it. Cheers for your reply Rob

Re: Polish residue!!
To keep the trims nice and dark we use our own tyre and trim dressing, which gives a nice long lasting deep look and is dry to the touch, unlike some of the others that give a real high-gloss finish (which personally we don't like) and are a bit gloopy when you touch them!

Re: Polish residue!!
hi guys, got the order in the post tonight, looking forward to having a go at the wheels with the new brush, looks perfect for the job, there such a pain to clean! Thanks also for sending the "potion". The other day my friend lent me some Mer window cleaner he found and it seemed to do the job, screen was perfect, then I applied rain x the following day and it all went wrong again, back to square one, but actually worse! But I cleaned again with Mer, and so far its perfect, gonna try the rain x again at the weekend and see if it goes wrong again! If so I'll have a crack with your "potion"! And let you know how I get on. My current thought with the window prob is the wiper blades are at fault. Its as if the rubber is putting some sort of chemical onto the window, the only odd thing is why its in patches and not a continuous smear all through the arc of wipe! But there arent enought hours in the day to think about this!! I'll let you know how I go with your stuff
cheers, Alan
cheers, Alan
