Hi all,
I’m new to this forum having recently purchased a 2009 2.0tsi GT. I’m pleased with the choice despite a few niggly things I need to get sorted but one I’d like to sort out is the electric seat controls. The up height adjustment switch doesn’t seem to work. I can feel the motor engage when you press down but doesn’t move when you press up. Other switches work fine however.
I’ve traced the part here: https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/metzger/8031193" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - there doesn’t seem to be any original parts available as far as I can see, but from anyone’s experience, will this be enough or will I have to replace the cable too?
I’m also having difficulty in finding any info on instructions on the repair?
Does anyone have any insight?
Replacing seat adjust controls - is this a pain to do?

Are you sure it has electric height adjustment. The round button has a four way control for lumber. The Handel near the seat base is normally used to move the seat up or down.

This is for the drivers side seat that definitely has electric seat adjustments. It can go back and forth, the motor sounds like it engages when you press down (the seat is in its lowest position) but does nothing when you press up. I'm hoping it's nothing more serious that a busted switch, but the motor does seem a little sluggish.

Sorry can't help with your issue but the electric driver's seat adjustment was an option and a relatively rare one at that.
Hope you get the issue resolved but I doubt it will be the switch if you can hear the motor operating when you operate the switch.

I presume the seat is at the lowest position limit, it engages but doesn’t move. Motor doesn’t engage when you press up on the seat control, which either suggests it’s a switch or cable issue. I guess I’ll have to find an electrics man and get them to figure it out.
