Adding bluetooth and Dynaudio issues

Post by pablocullen »

Hello!

Just got my new (to me) Rocco a couple of months ago, absolutely love it.

Its a 2.0 TSI with a bunch of options including the Dynaudio sound system, DSG gearbox and leather interior, its a 2008 model.

The issues i have are with the sound system, apparently the Dynaudio is meant to sound good however my audio sounds worse then my Qashqai which has a bog standard (eg. awful) factory stereo. Theres a complete lack of bass and i have to turn it up quite a bit to hear it over road noise. Could the amp be dead? could you tell me where is it located?

The head unit is a RNS510 as far as i can determine (looking at google images), which has a phone button, there is also a phone button on the steering wheel but i cannot find anyway to connect via bluetooth its like there is no BT module (can one be added? is there a mic built in?).

My thoughts are either its a faulty head unit or someones messed with it and broken a couple things, i cannot see someone getting this installed with the phone button on the radio and on the steering wheel and having no way to connect a phone to it.

Any help you could offer to get the stereo up and running fully would be amazing. The DVD player does work, even when the car is moving, so potentially someones hacked around with it...

Thanks a million!!

Back in 2008 Bluetooth was a cost option with a module located under the driver's seat (RHD). Whether it's fitted or not the head unit and the steering wheel control have the phone icon on them. My guess your car doesn't have the BT module fitted.

I have the Dynaudio but with the RCD510, and the sound quality is pretty good in my opinion. The amp is located under the passenger seat (RHD).

Thanks Bob, do you happen to know if i purchase and fit this bluetooth module that there is a mic built into the head unit?

I have a citroen with the JBL soundpack aswell, sounds absolutely incredible with the amp, im thinking somethings not working correctly on mine.

Thanks for your help.

The headunit doesn't have a mic built in but you might have one fitted in the overhead console as the RNS510 supports voice control.
