Steering wheel airbag code ???

Post by adam_chrs »

Hello, Scirocco owners!

I drive a 2008 Scirocco and I recently reconditioned my steering wheel, but it bothers me that the airbag cap is cracked and I really want to change it.
I found dozens of airbags for sale and some sellers say that Jetta, Eos, Touran, Caddy etc. airbags are compatible with Scirocco but I Know that this is not the case as some codes do not appear to be the same, despite the fact that the parts looks identical. The problem is I do not know the code for the airbag to be certain that it fits my steering wheel and I did not manage to take the airbag off to check it myself.
Does somebdy know which is the code for this part or which VW model is 100% compatible? Thank you in advance!

Pic related. Please ignore the metal ring and the VW sign in the center as I added those myself to hide the crack.

Well, I managed to remove the airbag finally. It actually is as simple as it seems in the tutorials.
To my surprise, the code was neither of these two. It has the same digits but ends in BS (1K0880201BS).
