Tyre pressure check
Hi all. Is there anyway in the settings or dash menu to check the tyre pressures on my 65 plate R?

Re: Tyre pressure check
I don't think the car has a dash display of your "actual" pressures, if that is what you are looking for. If you want to know what the pressures should be, like my car yours should have a label inside the fuel filler cap (but I bet you know that already...)
My car has the low pressure warning sensor fitted, which takes readings from the ABS sensors on each wheel and compares them - something to do with individual wheel rotation speed, I am told. If one wheel shows a slower speed, the software assumes a lower pressure than the other 3 and alerts you. But if all 4 wheels are equally under-pressured, I bet it would not give a warning. The system can only give an alert if the road is fairly straight, otherwise the effect of a twisty stretch nullifies the attempts of sensors to make that comparison.
Does this help you, or have I completely misunderstood your question?

Re: Tyre pressure check
As said above, the system on the Scirocco does have a sensor on the wheel / tyre to measure the actual pressure. The system uses the wheel speed sensors to detect a change in rolling resistance.

Thanks for the reply guys. Yeah my car has the pressure reset button in the glove box too. Thanks for that

Re: Tyre pressure check
Close. Actually lower pressure means a compressed sidewall so the wheel with a puncture will go faster not slower.Deagol wrote:If one wheel shows a slower speed, the software assumes a lower pressure than the other 3 and alerts you.
Quite a clever system as you already have the four wheel speed sensors for ABS. A few lines of code and no new hardware and you have tyre pressure monitoring.

Re: Tyre pressure check
I thought the speed was lower due to the higher rolling resistance however, faster or slower it workschelspeed wrote:Close.
