Anyone replaced the bonnet catch mechanism?

Hey everyone, I've got a 2011 GT TDi and the bonnet catch mechanism stuck on me yesterday when i went to top up the screen wash. I managed to open it the next day by pushing on the bonnet a couple of times before trying the release lever again and it worked, but then i spent the next 30 minutes trying to get it to close again!

Definitely plenty of corrosion in the mechanism so I've made an order with VW Parts today for a replacement mechanism which comes this week - but I'm struggling to find any details/pictures of anyone doing this replacement - so looking for anyone who might have pictures/tips/advice.

If not - i'll be replacing it this weekend so will be back to post some pictures.

Don't know if its in the manual but look between this files for general body repairs exterior.

It is really easy.

Awesome - thanks for the info. Seems quite reasonable. I've got the fuel cap "control unit" to replace too so those manuals will be very useful!
