It could be any number of things so it's best to get it scanned to find out what's triggering the warning light.

If it's a diesel as per your profile then it could be the DPF clogged and you need to force a regeneration. It tells you in the manual how to do this but it's basically driving at a constant speed with the revs around 2,500 rpm. If ot won't regenerate then a dealer can do a forced regeneration.

The car normally does a regeneration every 700 or so miles but it could get clogged if the car just does shoer journeys and it doesn't get a chance to finish the regeneration. If it doesn't finish a regeneration the radiator fans run on for 5 mins after switch off.

It could also be a faulty pressure sensor that monitors the DPF load.

If your car has had the emissions update then it could be down to that as many owners are having EGR and DPF issues after the update. If so, go back to the dealer as there is a "Trust Building Measure" warranty after the update.
