I'm having problems with my egr valve, I'm being told by the garage I need to replace it...would it be easier and better for me to just remove it and use a delete pipe? If so what else do I need to do? Thanks 2011 170gttdi

Have you had the emissions update done?
If you have, VW are now covering any issues with EGR valve for 24 months after the update or up to a maximum of 150k miles.

No I haven't but just say if I did have the update done and I got the EGR fault would they do it at cost price do you know? As I'm looking for the best and cheapest option

As far as I'm aware if you get the EGR fault after the update is done they will fix it free of charge.Boney20 wrote:No I haven't but just say if I did have the update done and I got the EGR fault would they do it at cost price do you know? As I'm looking for the best and cheapest option
I've posted the details in this thread.

Obviously, the issue you would have is getting the update done with an EGR fault, so they wouldn't cover an existing fault.

I have a CR170 EGR in the garage if you want it, I can post. Let me know and I'll get a price.
They wouldn't do the software update with a pre-existing fault. Your options are either to replace or get an EGR delete. If you get a delete you will need to get software tweaks to stop engine light.
