Trust Building Measure

Post by Cuprabob »

It would seem VW are trying to get more people to have the emissions update done by launching the catchy named "Trust Building Measure". I assume they will be writing to the affected owners soon with the details.

More details can be found here. You have to go to the pull down menu.

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/emissionsinfo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Basically to get around all the bad press of issues happening to some people after the update they will warrant certaint items for a period of 24 months after the update to a max mileage of 150k miles. The items being EGR L, Injectors etc...

Thanks Cuprabob,

The VW page says "And we won’t be 100% satisfied until our customers are 100% satisfied with Volkswagen again." I wonder how well they (and the company / dealership network) will apply the plain English interpretation of that sentence?

When you get a franchise dealership saying that they don't blame you for being uncertain about the fix being applied to your seven year old car, just who can we trust? I expect my little voucher for a mug or a pen might have expired by now not that it made any difference to my thought processes.

Cheers for the info.

Although im still not sure this will convince me to get the update. Im a firm believer in that the test and development they put into an engine throughout the years cannot be fixed in a matter of months.

Im glad they've provided some form of warranty though, when I had my car serviced just after this came about, i asked if a warranty was provided and it was a clean-cut no as "there wont be any issues, the update is fine", so atleast they are being fairer to customers now.

Does this info convince you into getting the update though?

Im the same, I love my car and would be pissed off if I got it "fixed" and it didnt work the same. Its a no-win risk, either it works and its the same for me, or something goes wrong and im unhappy.
