Are there plans for 1.4 TSI in GT spec?

In: Rising Blue
With a: DSG box
Options: 18" Interlagos, 2Zone Climate Control, Multifunction Steering Wheel with Paddle Shift and Highline computer, Front Fog Lights, Mats front and rear.

Car ordered 30 June 2009.

Does anybody know if there are any plans by VW to produce the 1.4 TSI in GT specification?

I sent VW an email asking this very question. Here is their response:

Good afternoon and thank you for your e-mail.

We do not have any current information of any plans for a 1.4 GT Scirocco in
th UK. I will keep your details on file and if anything does come up in the
near future I will send you the details.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm close to placing an order for a 1.4 TSI DSG. However, I'm adding 18" Interlagos, Multi-function Steering Wheel, 2Zone Climate Control, Fogs, and Tinted glass to bring it up to GT spec. Obviously this adds up to more than the difference between and non-GT and a GT spec in the other models. A bit cheeky really.

Any news on the grape vine about this would be great. I would delay my order if I knew VW were planning on producing the 1.4 TSI in GT form.

Apologies if this has been answered before. I'm new and nothing came up when I searched for 1.4 TSI GT on the board.

A few people have asked the same question as you, and so far VW have not announced a GT 1.4TSI.

I can't see the need for VW to not put out a GT version of the 1.4TSI, the 140TDI is available in both trims, and the 1.4TSI is distinguishable from the 2.0TSI by the chrome exhaust on the latter.

There is nothing unique about the GT trim that cannot be ordered for a 1.4TSI as an extra, so it seems that VW want you to spec £1400 worth of kit that correlates to a £1000 price difference between the GT and non-GT versions of the 140TDI.

That is a shame. I too agree that there would be a demand for a GT 1.4 TSI Scirocco.

I currently drive a MK V Golf 2.0 GT TDI and if I'd had to have bought that in an S or SE specification, then had to order a load of extras to get it up to GT spec, I'd have been a bit pi$$ed off. D'ya get my point.

If anybody gets a sniff of VW offering the 1.4 TSI in GT spec... post it up!
