Hi I bought a 2010 Scirocco 2.0Tsi around June last year, had no problems with it until January when the oil pump failed and seized the engine. Not being hugely technically minded it was recommended I try and find a refurb engine
I've already had a bad experience with a refurb company called auto engineering uk (long delays, difficulty getting hold of them, then got my bank involved which sped things up only to receive the wrong engine!)
Can anyone recommend anywhere? Preferably near the midlands
Or any other suggestions would be helpful, I'm going to try scrap yards but don't like the idea of no warranty and eBay only seems to have 4 CCZB designated engines (none of which look particularly appealing!), are they as rare as they seem?
Engine rebuild - any help?

If the oil pump failed and the engine seized it may not be rebuildable depending on the level of damage it's caused.
Has it been stripped down/inspected?

It hasn't no, most refurb places work on an exchange basis though so they send the refurb and collect my engine.
I have spoken to VW for a replacement engine but their refurbs are £5.5k

I would simply buy a used engine from Ebay from a car being broken.
Most have warranties.
Reconditioned engines don't necessarily have any parts replaced and may just be cleaned and then that is classed as reconditioning!

Re: Engine rebuild - any help?
Any suggestions from where? I've contacted 15 scrap yards near me (a couple of national companies who have checked all their stock) and not one has one. If I search eBay it comes up with 1 in Germany, 2 refurbs from the same company (who I've contacted and when pressed the engine they were trying to sell me was actually a 1.4!) and a cat B side impact write off which is a little too close to damaging the engine for my liking!
