2.0 TSI Main bearing caps stuck
Hi Guys first posts on here hopefully someone might know this, i just had the dreaded timing chain failure and it wrecked my engine i have had the top end rebuilt but does anyone know how to remove the crankshaft main bearing caps these are wedged like I've never seen on an engine before and no space to knock them out they actually looked pressed in, I've tried hitting with a piece of wood but they are solid, hopefully someone has done this before any tips would be great thanks.

You should be able to knock them loose with a wooden dowel. You need to hit them left and right, then wiggle them out.
I've not removed the main bearing caps on a 2.0 TSI but have done on a 1.4 TSI and the above method got them out.
Afaik they are not pressed in on a 2.0, VW workshop guide doesn't indicate so anyway.

Can you whack the nose and back of the crank downwards and put pressure on them that way?

Cheers guys I've been whacking and whacking left and right with a piece of wood but i worked it out today aswell as the two main bolts holding it down, it has two more either side which you undo outside the engine block weird? so for future reference if anyone's trying to remove the main caps the inner caps have 4 bolts each

Crankshaft - tightening sequence
Tighten crankshaft bolts in the sequence 1..10 as follows:
1 - Tighten bolts 1..10 and arrows A, by hand.
2 - Pre-tighten bolts 1..10 to 65 Nm.
3 - Turn bolts 1..10, 90° further using a fixed wrench.
4 - Pre-tighten bolts, arrows, A to 20 Nm.
5 - Turn bolts, arrows A 90° further using a fixed wrench
