Slight clunk when pulling away?

Post by Mr OCD »

Not driven the Rocco for a week or so ... used it for work today and noticed occasionally (not at the time) I can feel a light clunk as I pull away in 1st gear ...

It seems chassis related as in neutral when pump the clutch there is no clunk.

It is very very light and only just noticeable ... any ideas what to look at first before I pop my head under the car?

How many miles has it done? Could well be a shot bush somewhere

The clunk / knock is coming from drivers side front corner ... going to pop the wheel off and have a look around in a bit.

Top mount or broken spring would be my first guess

Checked spring tonight and it's fine. Had a good look underneath and cannot see any issues ...

How do I check top mount?

Console bushes don't look clever ... do they need replacing on these cars?

Ie. Clamps wishbone to subframe
