DRL's now off thanks to fellow member.

A big thank you to jc74 who earlier this evening drove out from central London to the burbs to meet up with MarkoRocco and myself to switch off our DRL's with his VAGCOM software.
He asked only a nominal fee and when we offered him a bit more for his trouble he wouldn't take it so thanks John, that was kind of you.

IMO it's great to the DRL's off and the auto light function working as it should do.
In addition I had a couple of other things altered by jc.
The car now gives a one brief chirp when I lock it with the fob and two chirps when it's unlocked.
I also had the seat belt warning ping turned off (which also turns off the warning light on the dash by the way).
Before anyone starts I always wear my seat belt and so do my front passengers.
It's just that when I pick up my girlfriend it's those first 30 yards or so when I pull away between her getting settled and then putting her seatbelt on that the pinging really annoyed me (and no I don't pull away like Jensen Button) so it had to go.

The whole process only took about half an hour to alter both cars and test them.
jc knew his stuff and whizzed through the set-up on a really cool looking little note pad laptop.
I was amazed that so much can be changed with the VAGCOM.
Just those three things will keep me happy though.

I'd already gone half way to the meet when I realized I should have brought my camera with me.
It was great to see 3 Rocs in one place (a first for me).
jc74 and my Pewter TSi GT's and MarkoRokko's gorgeous Candy White/Truffle TSi GT, the first White I've seen.
All 3 were "between washes" but not filthy. It would have made a good pic.

It was nice to meet you too Mark and your son if you're reading this.
I hope you got back to Norwich safely.

Yes you read that right peeps...NORWICH to London for a DRL switch off.
That's dedication to the cause.

Still any excuse is a good excuse for a road trip in a Roc :)

Nickp,

Knowing that you travelled so far just to get these turned off, there's no way I could accept anymore than a nominal contribution - you need to keep the extra to help pay for the petrol!
Interestingly, I noticed that in that neck of the woods (Romford), everyone seems to want to race you at the lights

The seatbelt sound annoys me too, if I could find a way to keep the warning light but remove the sound, I'd have done it for myself already.
Other than the DRLs, I really think the lock beep is very useful, since it means you know it's locked whilst you're walking away 8)

Actually my car was completely filthy, since they're doing construction near where I live - just the Pewter Grey hides the dirt fairly well!

Anyway, I'd be happy to help anyone else for a token amount, around the London area at a convenient time/date. I'm not doing it professionally, see it more as helping a few people out, and an justification for me to drive the car a bit :)

Short notice, but I'm going up to the midlands tonight and will be taking the cable. Can stop on route up the A40/M40 this evening about 8-9pmish if anyone needs theirs done... PM me before 7pm with your number. Will also be available in Warwickshire area on Saturday late afternoon... PM me with contact number before 4PM tomorrow...

I was able to turn off the DRLs with my vagcom but couldnt find the option to put the "chirp" when you lock/unlock the car. Some guidance would be great!

Off the top of my head, I think it's in the central convienence menu. Check the long encoding.

I'll update this later if I'm wrong...

Was on the M40 this morning, and a car - the only one with it's headlights switched on came up behind me from the distance. I thought who the hell has their lights on at 11 in the morning?? - Boy racers! Anyway, goes past and is another Pewter Grey Scirocco. My first chance on the road sighting... Middle aged guy and woman..

So what did I learn? - We really need to get those DRLs turned off!
