Misfire

Post by Daveee93 »

Once again my Scirocco seems to be Misfiring (Engine light flashes). But this time it's doing it when I'm idling, sometimes waiting at traffic lights.

Last time I took it in they had get the fault to come up when they were testing it, which previously was easy as it always happened when accelerating hard in 2nd. This time it's quite random and doesn't always happen when idling. Do the Fault codes not store in the system so they can see when they run a diagnostic test?

I just don't want to waste my time going there and not being able to prove it's misfiring

If it's misfiring there will be a code stored against whatever cylinder it is.

Thanks Cuprabob.

Not sure why they didn't just check the stored codes last time? Is there a time scale that the codes are stored for until they disappear?
