Hi all.
I have searched and searched a day while there is a lot of DRL discussions I cannot find the answer to my confusion.
I have a 2010 1.4 TSi. The only thing that irritates me are the headlights. I like to leave the dial in 'auto' mode but with the DRLs, that setting is no more than 'on'. Off is also on. In fact, to turn off the headlights, I have to turn on the sidelights! Ridiculous in my view.
I have contact with someone with VCDS who can change the settings for me but not sure what setting I need. What I want is to leave the switch in 'auto' and for them to actually be automatic rather than always on. I don't mind sides being on as DRLs. I see that there is a Scandinavian and a North American setting but that seems to affect the rear lights.
How do I get to what I want? Which setting should I chose? Is it even possible?
Thanks. Sorry if this is repetition.
Tim.

Turn of permanent running lights, enable sidelights as drl. You can also enable drl only active with light switch in auto position. All this bytes and bits are in module 09 long coding.

Re: Daytime Running Lights
In a 2010 (as mine is) you can turn the DRLs off yourself and use Auto as genuine Auto i.e. No lights on til it's gets darker. It's commonly known as the "stalk method" which is mentioned on here dozens of times if you do a search. It may also be in your owners manual (it is in mine). No Vagcom required.

Re: Daytime Running Lights
Most cars (certainly ones without Xenons) are set up to have the headlights on as running lights even in Auto mode
You have to use vcds to disable this as I have done several cars now.

Thanks Billy but I think yours has the upgraded computer menu being a 2.0, the 1.4 has the lower one with less options. I will look into this stalk method though thanks.
