Slam panel bonnet stay clip broken!!

Post by Astonbarlow »

Hi all,

My bonnet stay clip on my slam panel is broken. Pretty convinced this happened in a service with VW but can't prove it so no point going into that!

Anyways, the clip is broken and my bonnet stay is rattling at around 1400rpm, which makes me die inside!

I rang VW and it turns out a mod or clip cannot be purchased, the whole slam panel (£270!!!) needs to be bought, and that's before fitting!

So any ideas on how to fix my problem? I'm considering installing gas struts and remove the stay. I would prefer an easy and practical fix for now though.

So any ideas? I'm open to anything that will help.

Cheers all!

Fit a bonnet hydraulic strut and dispose of the current stay
