Out of general interest and the inability to find out else where currently, does anybody know if an R32 engine can fit inside a standard Scirocco size engine bay?
Also can an R32 engine be fitted to a 2.0 tsi's manual gearbox (02Q) and run as FWD still?
With my engine being stripped for a potential timing chain tensioner failure and therefore timing chain parts replacement anyway, I am pricing up worst case options of having to replace the engine or majority of internals.
Whether it be a new/used working 2.0 tsi engine (code CCZB) or try and squeeze an R32 engine in there but the inevitability of having a new ECU, electrics and loom etc.
ECU will be problematic.
Assuming it's Mk6 white display.
I think the flywheel studs are different so you would need the R32 gearbox between the TSI.. use the R32 gearbox and just leave the rear prop disconnected.
As you are asking I suspect for you it would just be easier to put another tsi engine in there.

Yes its more of a dream conversion, it would not be very cost effective lol and the ECU would definitely need changing.
Standalone would probably be the best bet, so basically new ECU, engine and gearbox then possible modded engine and transmission mounts which may mean altering the subframe. Oh and a new exhaust, atleast manifold/downpipe and induction side haha. So much £££ and time for such a job.
Haha its all alot to think about especially as it wouldn't even be as powerful as a remapped 2.0 tsi lol.
But that sound though [emoji14]

I'll Dream on I guess

You don't need standalone. Just an R32 gearbox to match the engine.
The mounting points are all the same including subframe.

You don't need standalone ECU...Mk5 R32 ECU will work if you have the right modules. I am not sure about backwards compatibility but you can put newer clusters on older cars as long as ABS pump is new enough. Just an R32 gearbox to match the engine.
