Decat pipe 2.0tsi for mot

Post by Roc_46 »

Hi all. So the scirocco I bought has a 3" miltek system from turbo back, now I know it's an mot failure. Anyone got any advice on how they get round their mot? Mines not due until Feb 2017.

You'll have to take it off for the MOT. usually when you buy a car with a decat, they owner throws in the standard exhaust too. you can pick up a downpipe for like 40-50quid and swap it over for MOT time. You could always change to a sports cat I guess.

Yeah not sure how well it would run with a standard downpipe. Read that to have my setup the car must have been remapped. The guy I bought the car from was not clued up on the car and bought it himself for the looks. There's no paperwork to support a remap so I can only guess. .......that and the fact it's pretty damn quick. Lol.

There are plenty of cars running sports cat like mine or with a decat with no issues. the only thing you get with a uprated downpipe is a check engine light due to the lambda sensor flowing too fast. if its for MOT it will only be swapped over for an hour anyway so wouldn't worry about it. just don't go red linning the car as the stock cat would be a restricting for the flow parameters if your car has been mapped.
