Evening folks, would there be any difference/benefit in buying a newer rcd510 than one say from a 2010/2011 etc car?
Want to get one bought ready to go in the wife's mk6 gtd she gets this weekend.

Re: Rcd510 question
Depending on the models, I believe the newer ones have;
DAB radio
Larger Harddisk
Faster processor
I think these can be retrofitted to earlier models but they're a bit tricky, especially when they can be bought pre-installed.

RCD510 doesn't have a hard disk. I think you are mixing it up with the RNS510.Maisonian wrote:Depending on the models, I believe the newer ones have;

Re: Rcd510 question
Early RCD510 units weren't compatible with MDI units, just in case you were thinking of going that way. I can't recall the part numbers but I think it would be the Blaupunkt manufactured ones rather than the Delphi ones which were produced later. But just the same as cars, older will have had more use so more chance of stuff going wrong.

Re: Rcd510 question
Cheers guys, my 59plate has mdi so I'm not sure what to buy then lol. Not sure if I saw someone before say that newer versions will display track names etc on the screen when Bluetooth streaming rather than just bt audio. Does anyone if that's correct please?

Re: Rcd510 question
The latest Bluetooth units display track info - sadly I bought an older model from eBay which doesn't support information but it's on my iPhone display anyway so I'm not really bothered - not bothered enough to spent the £200 needed to rectify it anyhow
