Do I need the fuel system cleaned/flushed??

Post by Duffy808 »

Hi Guys,
Looking for a bit of advice.
I have a 1.4 TSI with nearly 27k miles on it and coming up to 3 years old so I've booked it in to the VW garage for a full service and it's first MOT. The guy on the phone recommended that I should get the fuel system cleaned/flushed and the brake fluid changed.
Is this needed and do you think it's necessary given the age and mileage as it's going to put an extra £80 on the bill??
I don't mind paying this if needed as want to keep it in tip top condition and don't want to skimp on things but I don't want to pay for something that's not needed.
Opinions would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Yes, brake fluid should be changed at 3yrs and then every subsequent 2 years. Over time it absorbs water and it's performance is reduced.

The fuel system cleaner / flush is not required. Just a money making opportunity for the dealer.

Surprised they never tried to sell an air con service as well:-)
