Clocks have a short

Post by v11u5 »

Hi,

I have recently noticed when ever I turn the right indicator on the hand brake light flashes with the indicator light. its not a 100% bright as it would be when the hand brake is pulled up but still noticeable, also when the petrol warning light comes on the hand brake light is also on, once again not a 100% bright but 40 or so. Any ideas????

Thanks

Check the earth points for the dash as if that isn't working it may be finding an earth via the handbrake circuit causing the handbrake lamp to come on. I would check that first as it's likely if the issue happens when using multiple functions it's an earth- and that's easy to check yourself. Get the wiring diagram and find where the earth point is and then remove the trim and have a look if anything obvious. That'd be where I'd start.

Cheers Greg, sounds like a good idea to start with, now to find a wiring diagram :)

Ford used to have the earth point in drivers side kick panel (near accelerator) and under the trim that runs parallel with the door - never had to find earth points on a VW but if say there would be an earth point there somewhere as that's where the fuse box is- wiring diagram may prove me wrong though!
