windscreen wash motor not working

Post by Danielroc »

I can't hear the windscreen wash motor working and I'm obviously not getting any spray. The wipers still work though.

As VW no longer provide a fuse layout and I can't find one anywhere for a facelift model on here, does anyone know which fuse the washer bottle motor goes to on a 1.4 tsi 125?

I really don't want to take it to VW for what is probably a fuse but that's obviously what they want you to do now?!

I suspect it's blown due to blocked pipes/frost. Should have got the winter pack with heated nozzles :(

Have you checked the pre-facelift fuse list on here as there is always the possibility it's in the same place on the facelift.

Other than that just pull off the panel at the end of the dash and check each fuse with a continuity checker.

Thanks for your help!

Weirdly none of the lists specify windscreen wash; It must be lumped in with something else. Anyway, like you say, I'm off out to play find the fuse. I still don't get why they can't just print the list in the manual. I know there are lots of options but still...

I totally agree.

Does the rear wash work? It uses the same motor as the front but in the reverse direction.

Good luck...

Well the fuses all checked out ok. Both front and rear wash not working so I suspect the pump. Seeing as I was cold and wet, I decided as its under warranty VW can sort it.

I've just left the dealers. The technician agrees the fuses are all OK too so it must be the pump. I've left it with them as they have one in stock.

I'll keep you posted.

It wasn't the pump after all. After a nine hours work they finally found damage to the wiring loom through the bulkhead.

All repaired now under warranty.

Glad it's sorted but wiring damage is a bit worrying on such a new car.
