Pick up car from detailers today!

Post by shrink »

Decided to just get my recent car wash mistake taken care of before things get any worse.

Booked in for a paint correction and going to get it today

The detailer put some photos up on his Facebook feed, such a tease I can't wait to see the car in the flesh!

Pleased to report that all the damage I caused is now either completely gone, or invisible to all but the closest of inspections. Car looks good as new again!

No more jet wash brushes!

Bet you're glad!

Best policy when washing your car is to trust no one and do it yourself.

Well... I trust my detailer lol! But can't afford him every week!!

I'll just stick to hosing the car down between maintenance details

The two bucket method is nice and easy.. only take an hour and a half or so.

Get a cheap jetwash like a Nilfisk C110 or a Karcher K1. Powerful enough to blast dirt off a car but not enough to damage your paint. A good pre wash is essential otherwise you're just rubbing all the muck over your paint and scratching it.

Keep the nozzle around 2 feet away from the car, use the fan nozzle so it sprays in a nice big arc, and don't spray straight on to car, do it from a 45 degree angle and you can't really go wrong. And never use a brush.

Investing in a good wash mitt or two and drying cloths is well worth while. And definitely use the two bucket method mentioned above when you shampoo it.

A good snow foam works wonders as well. By that I don't mean one that looks like shaving foam, I mean one that really loosens up all the dirt. Auto finesse's Avalanche has been the best I've tried so far.

Two Bucket Method with grit guards and a good lambswool wash mitt will see you right. Plenty of foam and water prior to even touching the the car physically!

Or if you really have time, a clay bar!

hi guys

you may not have seen my other thread

I live in a flat in the middle of a city centre. no access to water, taps, or even decent space to clean the car.

I'll just stick to hosing it down at the local asda, and just stay well away from the brush

I guess the other option would be to take my own bucket and mitt, and just use the jet was to fill the bucket with soapy water.

You don't need much space, fill a bucket with water, have another bucket for washing your wash mitt and use a clay bar before polishing.

Next time u get the car detailed u could always have it sealed - a good sealant or ceramic coating applied correctly will mean u just need to hose it down and car will be clean as the dirt won't stick. May be worth a look if u haven't the space for detailing at home.

Already had a sealant put on

That's why I'm just hoping it down

It was a cheaper one though do won't last long! It'll be in for a full Quartz coating soon

You can get a portable jet wash with a water tank that you fill up when you use it. Nothing like the real thing and won't power foam through it but it will blast dirt off before you touch it with your mitt. Worth investing in.
