Post by Jacko5 »

Well got my Scirocco today .. 1.4 TSi 2009.
The headlighys are on all the time .. not good.
I tried the stalk method but it did not work.
I really want the auto headlight feature disabling.
I think i need a Vagcom or similar .. will this one be Ok ?

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Professi ... 9d8022dbd2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

£35 delivered.

Or anyone local to Hayle Cornwall who can disable the day running lights for me ...will sort a few beers out :D
Unless anyone knows one in the UK for a similar price.
Also when i put the car in reverse the sensors bleep when reversing to a wall etc but nothing comes up on the RCD 510 screen .. am i doing something wrong.
Love the car .. rising blue is a lovely colour ...did a 210 mile trip back home today after collecting it ... nippy for a 1.4.
Will remap at a later date .. is the standard clutch up to a remap ? .. 200bhp via Celtic Tuning Near Newquay.
Many thanks for any replies.

It's actually the other way round about, the auto function is actually currently disabled as the dipped headlights are on as DRLs. If you disable the DRLs then the Auto function will be enabled meaning the lights will automatically turn on and off based on the ambient light level.

I don't think that tool will allow you to do it
I think you Need genuine VCDS to do it, although it will read codes and clear faults.

I may be wrong but I think the parking sensors on the early cars were just audio and it wasn't until later on the optical parking sensors were introduced which display on the RCD510.

If you have an android phone you can save a lot of money with VCDS software if you buy this little device "http://obdeleven.com/" plug it into the OBD port in your car and use the OBDeleven app to do all the stuff you can do to your car, it will automatically detect what you can modify and let you do it.

The parking sensors that give you a display in your car are only available when fitted from factory, I went to VW dealer to enquiry about getting them fitted to mine and they said a safety feature prevents them from being fitted after they've left the factory so I just got audio sensors fitted.

sorry, scott/bob don't think that's right, gents - i had parking sensors retrofitted in my old gt by vw and the rcd did show the distance from objects behind. was told it wasn't easy but their technician was a 'genius' - maybe your dealer is talking crap, not uncommon!

mine was an my09, red mfd. this may be what you're after, doesn't look simple though:
