Hello guys,
I hope I can get some good advice. I will cut the long story short, as I have posted stuff about the Engine management light and the intake manifold in another thread.
As I was leaving a car park this evening, I was turning my steering to get out of a tight space, and I heard a dull snapping-like sound, and the airbag light came on (and stayed on)... All the buttons on the MFSW do not work either. I got back and scanned with VCDS, and the error codes are below:

I am not sure if it's the controller that has given up... Cruise control still works, and so do the indicator stalks. Hoping someone can shed some light on this.
Sounds like the slip ring connection between the steering wheel and the controller has failed. There will be no connection to the airbag, hence the light and no connection to the steering wheel controls. Horn won't work either. Stalks are OK as they are a direct connection to the controller.
Yep, my horn doesn't work as well.
At least I know what it is now, and it's a part I can change myself, as I did the cruise control - time to hunt on ebay! Or might just get a proper one from VW.
Update: I bought a used airbag controller from ebay (£40, should have known better), and it produced the same error. Pretty disappointed, as it's such a pain to get the airbag/steering wheel off! I have ordered another (p/n - 5K0 953 569 H), it's from an Audi A1 BUT I think this should be compatible.
Will update if it works. If not, I will assume it's not the clock-spring, and something else is faulty.
