cam belt or chain?

Post by Ajlcomputers »

Hi everyone, I was under the impression that my 2011 Scirocco 2.0 TSI 210ps has a cam chain but I've just had a call from the VW dealer saying that it's nearly time to have the cam belt changed, does anyone know which it is and if not is it easy to check which it has?

Thanks.

It's a cam chain, no question.

Sadly, the service people at dealers are easily confused.

Wait til you get the message that your camshaft requires tensioning. That was from a Seat dealer. They had no answer when I asked how they were planning to tension it, other than "It requires doing every 4 years!"
