Scirocco r front and rear brakes

Post by DanielR »

Hi everyone ,
Happy New Year!

A couple of questions , I have a 1.4 tsi from 2010 and I found a garage that is selling parts from a Scirocco R.
I am interested in the brakes but I heard that the brakes won t fit a 1.4 tsi ,I would have to buy the axel also.
Is 750 euros to much for a complete rear axel (brakes, shocks, spring etc...) and front axel also complete.(brakes, shock with spring ect...)??
Front xenon headlights 750 euro ?
What do you think ? Worth to buy? Will it fit easily?
Thank you.

750E for the complete front and rear suspension inc brakes shocks, springs etc sounds like a bargain. What I'm not sure about is the driveshafts. Are they the same for 1.4 as R? Doubtful I would think. Will the 1.4 shafts mate with the R hubs? Will the R shafts mate with the diff? Sorry don't know enough to help.

Xenons are a bit of a minefield to fit too. Loads of VCDS work needed to make them work and some doubts over MOT unless you also fit auto height adjustment and headlight washers. Plenty of threads on lighting so have a good read before committing yourself.

R brakes will fit (common wheel bearings etc.), however. I'm not sure if they share a common master cylinder, so feel/modulation might be a bit of an issue - check ETKA for part numbers.

If you're happy to take on the extra hassle of housing extra dampers, springs, uprights, wishbones etc. 750 Euros sounds like a fair price to me.

Personally, I'd buy the front and rear axles, butcher the break set-up, sell the remaining parts and purchase the following with the left of over cash: 1) Passat uprights (B5 or B6 model) and 2) Audi TT wishbones with adjustable ball-joints.

Adjustable ball joint wishbones I can see the benefit in tweaking the geometry. But what's different. ie what's the benefit on a scirocco, with Passat uprights? Not questioning what you say just interested as I've not heard of this mod before.

The Passat uprights are identical to the S3 aluminium uprights (slightly revised roll centre), which when paired with the TT aluminium wishbones removes about 10kg's of mass from each corner. Have a gander at my build thread if you're interested.

Thank you for the help.
I also think that is bargain, but not beening sure if it will fit/work !?
I think I am afraid to just spend the money and maybe in the end have a broken car ;) .
