Clutch sqeal partial warrenty sucess

Post by daves2369 »

Hi Guys,

I have the clutch squeal which seems to plague these cars.

Took the car to VW and they said they would look at the car, they then phoned me up saying they would need to drop the gearbox costing £480 at 5 hours labour if they did not find anything I would have to foot it.

Next day they phoned saying they have found a leaking slave cylinder and this would be replaced under warranty with labor included but recommended a new clutch at £410 due to it being over 50% worn I tried to get them to fit an uprated one at the same time but they wouldn't due to only fitting OEM parts.

looking at the VW warranty book it states

"Consequential failure Means the failure of any part which has directly resulted from the electrical or mechanical failure of a covered component, except where this subsequent or secondary failure has arisen from an excluded cause (such as abuse, accident, fire, impact or neglect) or has occurred to batteries, bodywork, brake frictional materials, bulbs, carpets, clutch frictional material, glass, trim, tyres, upholstery, wheels and wipers. The maximum payable for consequential failure is £2,000 per claim including VAT. "

So I would of thought the clutch would be covered as-well specifically the release bearing due to the slave cylinder leaking on it causing the wear and hoot.

any thoughts?
