has my rns510 got a code?
Hi all..I'm planning on retro fitting the telephone bluetooth module next weekend and as I have to disconnect my radio, will I have to re-enter a security code?...I've looked through all the paperwork that I got with the car but there is nothing about a code. Any ideas?
Most scirocco's are all the same but some are different...

Re: has my rns510 got a code?
I did exactly that two weeks ago, retrofitted bluetooth (module M) to my RNS510 (version B) and haven't had to enter any sort of code since, should be fine
though you will need VCDS to code the module if you weren't aware.
Re: has my rns510 got a code?
The RNS510 (in fact all VW stereo units) have a security code. The car remembers the unit once the code is entered for that particular unit and shouldn't need to be reentered again. If you put the same unit in a different car it'll ask for the code as it's unknown. If you put a new unit in your car it'll ask for the code.

Vw have been sneaky.. I found out with my rcd that no radio code was supplied. As I was changing to rna I needed the code, so vw charged me 20 quid to find it, after telling me it was free. This is why I stay away from the dealers as much as possible....
For disconnecting and reconnecting you SHOULD be ok (I've never had any problems. But should you be worried, head to your dealers and book it in ☺

I have never needed the code after battery disconnection but as someone says it is specific to the car so if you put an RNS in another car etc you will need the code. Luckily mine was written on the vehicle data page of the service book

Or bring it to me and I'll decode it for you (as long as it's yours and not stolen of course...)
