Hi all, in the next four or five months or so I'll be buying a 2.0tsi Scirocco, looking around an 09/10 plate but my quandary is over the colour I'm going to go for, I keep going forward and back with my decision...blue, white, blue....love both colours and have narrowed my search down to just those two really, possibly the pewter/indium grey if one is about.
Now coming from a solid black Mk5 golf I've vowed never to have a black car again as its a nightmare to keep clean and shows any swirls so easily....
How easy is the candy white to keep clean and keep looking decent between washes? I've never owened a white car so have no idea if they show/ hide the dirt easily, this is my first choice really as I hate seeing any swirls and from what I've seen white hides this really well?
But how easy is the rising blue to keep that lustrous deep look? And is it easy to notice the swirl marks on that?
Obviously I use the 2bucket method of washing with foaming before, but even when my golfs been machine polished still notice the odd spider web in the sun.
Thanks in advance guys

Hi mate I should be your perfect candidate for this question as Iv owned a candy white GT and now own a rising blue R. Pros to the white are as you stated the swirls are hidden really easily, cons for me was the difficult parts to get at to keep clean, eg gap between windscreen and pillar and inside the doors where the closing hinges are. Apart from that the white always come back to a amazing finish and was easy to keep clean.
Rising blue, Iv only owned the car for 1 week so far so can't comment on how it is too keep clean but as for paint the finish is amazing, it looks a thousands different colours at different angles and for that reason I prefer it. It has a deep colour that shows real depth.
Hope that's some sort of help.
Good luck with the car shopping here's a pic of both of mine.

They both look amazing mate, cheers for that...that's nice hear about the white as in easy to keep it coming straight back after a wash...but I also see what you mean about the depth of the blue, I know I'll poss prefer the blue but the up keep compared to the White has me on the fence, I guess I need to physically have the two in front of me and actually see them in flesh, only ever seen a blue one at night. Can't wait to get either of them to be fair, killing me this waiting...been a member for the last 3 months looking into all the pitfalls, potential problems and advice on modding so nice it's nice to be going into buying one with my eyes wide open and knowing what to look for.

Well I think I've made my mind up, just been to a garage and seen both the colours side by side, and it's going to have to be the blue I think, so much nicer in person than in picture. Took the White one out for a test drive as that was the tsi DSG I was looking at, and it drove great apart from when I slowly pulled off from the forecourt, felt a bit graunchy for a split second. It had the DSG oil service at 53,000 and on 58,000 is this normal or has the box potentially been damaged by going 13,000 over the service schedule?

Personally I wouldn't touch a dsg box that hasn't been properly maintained as a replacement is well over 3k. I know 40k is probably well under what is actually needed but still better safe than sorry.

Cheers Jo, I'm going to leave it anyway and save up more of a deposit....like you say it's not worth the risk on this one, plus that graunch I felt was a bit off putting....would be nice to know if any other DSG owners have had this, it felt like driving off with the hand brake still half on
