RNS510 want to update

Post by FoxL »

Trying to unlock video in motion so I can see the setup menu for the current firmware for my rns510.

I've downloaded from here https://robpol86.com/guides/US-RNS-510-Video-In-Motion/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I tried burning to a cd and dvd using cyberlink power2go and putting in the car but just comes up with error and nothing else happens :cry: . It mentions holding eject day/night and the guide button then putting the disc in but in the place of guide we have traffic and the day/night is the i for the nav.

Any help or suggestions? Just want to check the rns510 so I don't brick it when I update it.

Failing unlocking the menu this is whats on the unit

I don't think it has ever been updated, the maps certainly haven't. Is it possible to just update the maps?

You are running firmware 1200 on a B unit - quit old. You wont be able to get the 7 digit postcodes I dont think, and you certainly need to raise your firmware to at aleast 3xxx before you can put on the lastest map version (I am on v12 with firmware 5238).

Use another CD burning software - maybe Nero?! I used imgBurn, and made sure I verified the disc on completion.

How are you trying to access it?! The correct way is to hold the set up button for about 10 - 20 secs (till it goes past the first menu)..

Btw, I told you what you were running.. or do you mean what version of maps you are running?

Yes, I know you hold the setup button to access it which I did for a considerable amount of time but no luck. I know, I just wanted to check as I don't know if any previous owners had updated the firmware.

The "video in motion" is different from the code hack that let's you access the setup screen. Perhaps you dont have the secret menu access installed
