Hi all,
i'm new here, had myself a VW Polo but thought i wanted abit more so i went bought myself a 2.0 Bluemotion GT Scirocco the other day, have to say i love it! however i was so intent on looking for the Satnav RNS 510 i didnt realise they had different model options, i have a xx680 version, i believe the DAB/DAB+ are xx686?
My questions are however
1. is DAB/DAB+ really all that worth it?
2. How hard would it be to swap out a RNS 510 without DAB to a RNS 510 with DAB (and the installation of the DAB aerial etc) ? would i need to enable anything in the VCDS?
3. Would it be more viable to get something like AutoDAB that works off the FM/AM signal? all i guess i would be missing is the Sub menu of "DAB" in the "Band" selection and the fancy graphics/ads where the Radio text is?

Re: RNS 510 Question
Can't answer the question about compatibility replacing RNS510 with 510 Dab+ but do not think any coding is required but can answer the query about Dab antenna. The OEM fitting has a DAB amplifier that replaces the FM one. The amplifier is under the right hand rear side screen. You will also need to run an additional cable from the amplifier to the radio unit. I did a retro fit f a DAB radio and it took about 1.5 hours but could do it much quicker next time! Guide to removing rear trim is on another forum so will have to join http://www.scirocconet.co.uk/forum/how- ... 10019.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
