2011 dsg

Post by jgraham93 »

hi, just a quick question about the dsg box, I'm pretty sure you get it a lot, however, I'm looking at buying an 11 plate dsg ti 170 with 100k miles on the clock. at 77 thousand it has the dsg service but the current owner says they are unsure whether that is the only service it has had on the gearbox.
just wondering if it is worth a punt or perhaps something to avoid? heard of some issues with them thats all
thanks

The DSG service interval is 40k miles but there is a good chance it was done but just no record. You could always call up VW Customer Services as they have a record of all work done to each car within the franchise network

Even if it wasn't done, I would say any issues would have raised their head by now and it was done on schedule at 77k.

Worth a punt I would say, using it for a bit of negotiation :-)

another question. Just done a complete hpi check on the car, and it has down its milage history, since it was first purchased from new on the check it has its milage recorded every other month or so, but not after the current owner brought it. I'm just wondering how they have the milage recorded on the check? has it been in a garage for some reason on all of these occasions?
thanks

Could have been a company car if recorded every two months possibly or a VW owned vehicle? Should have been recorded at least once each year at the MOT. As said previously if serviced by a VW dealership all work done will have been recorded and available from VW customer services or a friendly VW dealer.
