Hello,
New to this site so not sure if it has been answered already.
I have a 58 plate 2.0 TSI scirocco, and I am having trouble with finding a solution to getting my iphone 5 to work with the mdi port. The car came with a cable for iphone 4, and it works perfectly when I plug in my friends iphone 4 with no problems..
I strolled into Volkswagen today to ask them if they had a lead for the iphone 5, after being clueless to what I was asking, they finally pulled out a lead, they then let me try it but the lead done nothing but charge my phone, no display came up on the screen, the parts guy in vw had absolutely no idea so it was basically working as nothing but a charger where as I want to be able to change my music whilst driving on the screen instead of fiddling around with my phone whilst booting in the sciroc!
Any ideas what is needed to be done or if I'm even able to use an iphone 5 in this car as it's a little old?
Thanks a lot

If you do search, you will see it's been discussed a few times before. It should work OK if you use an official Apple Lightning Adapter and the iPhone 4 cable.
Some of the cheaper Lightning Adapters don't work though.
VW do an iPhone 5 cable but it's crazy money and you need to get the one with the right coloured collar for it to work properly. Sorry, can't remember if it's a green collar or a white collar.

im still having this problem on 59 plate rocco, i bought the recommended lead for iphone 5/6 with lightning connector and it still doesnt work, if you look on my post from about a week ago somebody posted me a link to resolve it by downloading a update for the headunit and put it onto sd card...but im unsure as to whether doing something like this could caise damage if done wrong or i download the wrong/infected software....i could just do with somebody who knows what they are doing coming and showing me lolol
