Manual Gearbox Fault

Hi,

This is the first time i'm posting on here, unfortunately it's not for a positive reason!

I picked up my used Scirocco from a VW dealer on Tuesday last week (30th June), It's a 2 litre TDI manual, 62 plate with 20k miles. 24 hours later it broke down!

It wasn't going into gear, the clutch pedal felt fine but it just wouldn't let me go into gear. With the engine off I could get it into a gear, so I managed to drive to work and get it towed back. It went to the workshop on Thursday. I thought it must be some sort of clutch fault but I just got off the phone to the dealer and they're telling me it needs a new gear box, which should be done by the end of the week. After doing a bit of looking around online I haven't come across this problem anywhere else so I was wondering if anyone else had heard of a similar problem with these manual gearboxes?

Obviuously I'm a little concerned even though It's covered under warranty I've only drove it for about 50 miles!
