I've currently got a 1.4 160 but it's recently been misfiring (shock, I know). Luckily I'm still within my years warranty. I'm just wondering if it's worth thinking about trading the 1.4 for a 2.0 ? And if so the 170 Tdi or 210 Tsi? (I do about 15,000 miles)
I've heard the misfiring problems are a regular occurrence and they don't always go away. Any advice would be appreciated (:

Isit worth changing? I love the 1.4 but I don't have confidence in it's reliability. Is the 2.0 diesel 170 fun to drive?

I've not driven the 2.0 petrol for a long time, but my 170 TDi is fun enough for me. Economy when I want it, plus a reasonable amount of get-up-and-go when I want that too. The engine has plenty of torque so it will shift and the chassis is no different to your 1.4 so the handling should be similar (OK, the diesel lump would be heavier at the front end). Some members will have different opinions about VW's Soundaktor thingy under the bonnet, but I'm OK with it.Daveee93 wrote:Isit worth changing? Best bet would be to go to a VW dealer and see it they will let you test drive a 170.

I've only had my 170 for a couple of weeks and I find it a fun car to drive I came from more powerful car and I'm not disappointed I don't think you would be either
