Misfire misery.

Post by Alexholmes11 »

After trying desperately to keep my 2010 1.4 160ps 26500 mile candy white rocco alive, I've given up, it's had new sparks, coils, injectors, the valves had burnt out so they were replaced, reseated and the head was skimmed, new timing belt, water pump and now to top it all, the piston ring on cylinder 4 has gone. I love the scirocco but that engine is the biggest disgrace to motoring since the g whizz, I'm part exing it for a diesel and as far as I can see the engines are pretty faultless when it comes to reliability, but before it all goes ahead I wondered if anyone had ever heard of any common faults or reoccurring issues with the tdi engine. Many thanks.

Sorry to hear about your problems with such low mileage. I have had mine from new (2011 build) and covered 45k without any issues and do mixed journeys each week of long (60 miles) and short (10 mile) trips . I do service it regularly every 6 months and do regular checks with VCDS and always use shell nitro. Not sure these actions make any difference but so far so good. Not heard of any issues with the TDI apart from 'normal' VAG' issues with water pump leaks on a few.

only thing ill say about the tdi is the dpf, only issue I've had is a sensor broke on it and stopped it from regenerating so i got an engine light for a blocked dpf and had to get it sorted at a garage, other than that no issues, apart from a fuel leak out of the fuel filter but i think that was a faulty part after the service rather than an actual issue with the engine, it was replaced free of charge dpf being diesel particulate filter haha

Thanks for the replies, had another issue yesterday, new error, p10a4, think it's something to do with the air filter bypass? My car just needs to last until Thursday.
