When to service

Post by Paul_W »

I recently had a letter and a voicemail from my local dealer saying that their system shows that my car is due a service. It was last serviced (by them) 12 months ago. They put a sticker in car saying that the next service will be due when indicated by the dashboard. I checked the dash and it shows 13k miles to go. According to what they've put in the service book it will be due at 38k miles (currently on 25k) or March 2016. Why would they be telling me that it's due a service now if everything else says it's not due for another year?

Sounds as if the car is set to longlife service intervals which are up to a maximum of 18,600 miles / 24 months whereas dealers promote time & distance service regime, which is every 9,300 miles / 12 months.

For the majority of people T&D regime is the best as longlife regime is more suited to people who cover many miles of mptorwsy cruising.
