Hi
I've noticed lately that once I have come to a complete stop, whether this is parked up or just stopped at a junction,
When I pull away there is a squealing that lasts for about 2 seconds and then doesn't make any more noise until pulling away again.
It sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side, is this a common fault or am I just being overly conscious.
The Car is still under warranty so I'm just wondering if this is something that could be fixed by the warranty.
Thanks in advance

Re: brake squeal
Sounds as if you have a sticky caliper.

Re: brake squeal
Sticky caliper OR the throw-out bearing in your clutch assembly is giving a well known symptom.

Re: brake squeal
Is there any way to tell which one it might be, without pulling everything apart?

youtube clips have been posted; it also links to other threads on the clutch issue... Might be your brakes though, but just check this out

Re: brake squeal
If I were to put money on it, I would put it on being one of the rears as the sliding type calipers are notorious for seizing up. In severe cases you can get binding which is easy to detect as the disc heats up.chrispy5190 wrote:Is there any way to tell which one it might be, without pulling everything apart?

I would try greasing the front pads. In the runners bet that will stop it.

Re: brake squeal
After a bit of tweaking with the brakes the noise seems to have gone
The bearing in the clutch was changed just a year before I got the car and is apparently the all metal one.
Hopefully it's all sorted
