Cambelt Price

Post by Sebbristol »

Hi,

My car is a 10 plate and I was thinking about changing my cambelt just incase after reading a lot of posts regarding the issue with cambelt. My Rocco has 40K miles on the clock and I was quoted £440 to get it changed with new water pump.

My question is, this price seems quite high would I be better of getting changed somewhere else then vw ?

Thanks

I see from your profile that you have a 2.0 tsi, you don't have a cam belt. Your engine is chain driven. Also your water pump isn't driven the same way as a cam belt engine. It's on the front of the engine under the inlet manifold and is driven by a separate belt. Is this what you mean by belt and water pump change?
I think vw would charge more than that to change the chain tensioner which is the issue on these engines plus the water pump, that quote doesn't sound quite right.
