Hit a Deer at speed

Post by Midlife »

Hi all

I hit a deer (muntjac) at 70mph Wednesday night and after it looking splendid on my grille for a few seconds (seemed ages) it went under the car (lucky I was in comfort mode at the time)

I do not mean to offend anyone, I am an animal lover and it shook me up, the muntjac did not suffer as I hit it square on (so no lights damaged).

The garage had a look today and the front bumper needs a respray and the condenser needs replacing at least, as well as the grille, the front end did its job exceptionally well and absorbed the impact. Will let you know the quote when it arrives on Tuesday, will include a wheel realignment as I ran over the deer, just incase, everything else under the car is fine as they ramped it up to have a look for me.

What is it with deer?

I hit one of those little deer one month into the ownership of my last car.
It was standing in the road without any thoughts for its own safety, sporting neither a reflective jacket nor any lights.
I swerved around it and a trailing hoof scratched the side of the bumper.

Hope your car is not too badly damaged
