Instant heater options

Post by peter-h »

I have a 170HP diesel, 2012 model.

I hear from German VW diesel owners that a lot of the diesel cars sold there have a separate heater (fuel burning) because the engine doesn't produce enough heat by itself. And apparently VW sell the control unit, which enables this functionality, for a 4-figure amount...

What is the situation for my car?

It would be nice to have this because the heater takes ages to do anything. It takes about 20 mins before it makes decent heat.

I have seen a 3rd party product which is pretty complex and connects into the water system, and costs a few k.

Many thanks for any feedback.

I have already had the stupid soundactor noise generator removed :)

This guy in Sweden has just fitted an electric heater to warm the inside of the car before you even start the engine. Not exactly what you wanted but certainly a lot simpler.
